Meaning of ‘runa’ in Quechua

The word Runa is one of the most common and known Quechua words, it means:

1. People (collective noun).
2. Man, when you know the gender of whom you speak.
3. Person, when speaking in a generic way.
4. The male opposed to the female.
5. People opposed to the animal, for example ‘Runan payqa manan alqochu’ means ‘He is people, not a dog’.
