Perhaps, in learning the simple present conjugation of Quechua you were wondering about the past or future tense, do not worry, we talk about it in future lessons, but first let’s talk about the present continuous.
We use the suffix -sha to express the present continuous in Quechua, it is added between the verb root and the verb ending, very easy, right? Look at this formula:
Verb root + sha + verb ending
I am sure that with the following examples the idea will be very clear to you.
1. The verb Hamuy (to come) in the present continuous
Noqa hamushani | I am coming |
Qan hamushanki | You are coming |
Pay hamushan | He is coming / She is coming |
Noqanchis hamushanchis | We are coming (addressee included) |
Noqayku hamushayku | We are coming (addressee not included) |
Qankuna hamushankichis | You [guys] are coming |
Paykuna hamushanku | They are coming |
2. The verb Qoy (to give) in the present continuous
Noqa qoshani | I am giving |
Qan qoshanki | You are giving |
Pay qoshan | He is giving / She is giving |
Noqanchis qoshanchis | We are giving (addressee included) |
Noqayku qoshayku | We are giving (addressee not included) |
Qankuna qoshankichis | You [guys] are giving |
Paykuna qoshanku | They are giving |
3. The verb Apay (to bring) in the present continuous
Noqa apashani | I am bringing |
Qan apashanki | You are bringing |
Pay apashan | He is bringing / She is bringing |
Noqanchis apashanchis | We are bringing (addressee included) |
Noqayku apashayku | We are bringing (addressee not included) |
Qankuna apashankichis | You [guys] are bringing |
Paykuna apashanku | They are bringing |
